Shahab Hosseini wife represents actor at Hafez awards

Internationally acclaimed Iranian actor Shahab Hosseini fails to attend 17th edition of Hafez Awards in Iran.

Globally acclaimed Iranian actor Shahab Hosseini fails to attend 17th edition of Hafez Awards in Iran with his wife representing the artist at the ceremony.

The awards ceremony which honors cinematic and Television works in Iran was held on Wednesday in Iranian capital city of Tehran.

A notable happening at the event was Iranian actor Shahab Hosseini’s failure to attend due to his prior engagement with a theater work titled ‘Confession’.

This is while Parichehr Ghanbari, the artist’s wife, attended the ceremony on her hubby’s behalf.  

Seyyed Shahab al-Din Hosseini Tonekaboni has been studying psychology at the University of Tehran, but he dropped out of university with the decision to immigrate to Canada. However he ended up as a radio host in Iran instead.

He moved on to hosting the TV show 'Oxygen' and then appeared in TV series such as 'After the Rain' (2000).

His cinematic debut was in 'Rokhsareh' (2001). His acting career took off with his performance in movies such as 'Fifth Reaction' (2002) for which he was nominated for a Golden Statue from the Iran Cinema Celebration.

His outstanding performance in 'Candle in the Wind' (2003) saw him nominated for the Golden Statue for best actor in a supporting role from the Iran Cinema Celebration and a Fajr International Film Festival's Crystal Simorgh.

In 2009, his outstanding performance in 'Superstar' (2008) won him a Crystal Simorgh from the Fajr International Film Festival .

In 2011, he was a nominee for the Iran Cinema Celebration Golden Statue for his roles in 'About Elly' (2008) and 'Wandering in the Mist' (2009). At the Same time, he won the prestigious Silver Berlin Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival for his memorable role in 'A Separation' (2010). This role also earned him a nomination for the Chlotrudis Award at the Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film.

Shahab Hosseini has won the best actor award at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival for his role in Asghar Farhadi’s ‘The Salesman’ (2016). 

Hosseini has appeared in movies such as 'This Woman Won't Talk' (2002), 'Poisonous Honey' (2002), 'Ziggurat Goddess' (2003), 'Redemption on twenty past Eight' (2004), 'Whirlpool' (2004), 'Murder Online' (2005), 'The Proposal for 50 Million' (2005), 'The Plum Garden' (2005), 'Unexpected' (2006), Eternal Kids (2006), 'Mahya' (2007), 'Heartbroken' (2007), 'Loneliness' (2007), 'Anahita' (2009), 'The Final Whistle' (2012), 'The Five-Star' (2013), 'The Resident of the Middle Floor' (2013), 'Time to Love' (2014), 'Parallel Shadows' (2014), 'Come with Me' (2015), and 'The Salesman' (2016).

He has also acted in several series such as 'Fellow Traveler' (2001), 'The Young Officer' (2001), 'Cold Fever' (2003), 'Zero Degree Turn' (2006), 'Dance in the Sky' (2006), 'The Delight of the Flight' (2009), 'Ancient Land' (2010), and 'Shahrzad' (2014).

in 2013 he has experienced directing with 'The Resident of the Middle Floor' and later in 2015 he has directed 'Come with Me'.

Hosseini is also a singer in a band named 'Seven', which he formed with his friends.
